Frösunda is a relatively new area in Solna. The blocks have the feel of a small town, but they are situated in the closest suburb to Stockholm city centre. It's easy to get into the city from here, by bus, bike or commuter train. Along the way you’ll pass Karolinska Institutet and the University Hospital.
Right next to the Frösunda complex you’ll find the spacious, leafy Haga Park, ideal for picnics, walks or a daily jog. In the winter you can skate on the frozen water of Brunnsviken Bay, and in the summer you can swim or rent a canoe. Don’t miss the Butterfly House (Fjärilshuset), in the northern part of the park, where you can enjoy tropical heat all year round and discover exotic butterflies, strange birds and a large pond full of semi-tame carp.
Another beautiful and peaceful place for walks is the Northern Cemetery (Norra Begravningsplatsen), which is as much a park as a graveyard. There is a climbing centre (Klättercentret) right next to the cemetery, with 15m indoor climbing walls and a 300 m² bouldering area. |
