SSSB’s newest construction is called Embla and is situated in Hammarby Sjöstad. The first tenants moved in in December 2006. The building houses 265 apartments, the majority of which are one-room apartments of varying sizes. There are also some spacious two-room apartments and a handful of three-room apartments, all of which have an open-plan kitchen area.

The shared spaces are characterised by colour and light. There are several assembly rooms in the building, the largest of which is a corner room on the seventh floor, with delightful views over the water. Outside the building there are barbecue patios and plenty of bicycle parking areas.

Harmmarby Sjöstad is a large – and still growing – part of the city. It is located just south of the island of Södermalm, and has sprung up since the turn of the millennium. The tvärbana (light railway system), which offers several connections to the metro, bus and commuter train networks, crosses this area. On the periphery of the area you will find Hammarbybacken (Hammarby Hill), where you can ski or snowboard with a view of the city. On the other side of the hill is the Nacka Nature Reserve, and the Hellasgården outdoor activity area is a short cycle ride away. If you’d rather head in to the city centre, the public transport system offers several possibilities. For example, you could take a boat from Sjöbussbryggan pier all the way into Nybroplan in the heart of the city, or there are plenty of other options when that particular waterway is frozen!
