Refurbishment of kitchenettes at Idun
The kitchenettes at Idun are very much in need of refurbishment and therefore Stockholms studentbostäder have started to refurbish the kitchenettes in the area. We are refurbishing the kitchenettes in stages and we will start the renovation on floor 6 and then continue down in the building. That means that the refurbishment at Idun will continue for a few years.
It takes about 2 weeks to replace a kitchenette. You can find a timetable for the ongoing refurbishments here:
Communal kitchen during refurbishment
While your kitchenette is being refurbished, the idea is that you will be able to use a communal kitchen on floor 7. You will share this kitchen with other tenants.
Access to your home
The contractor will use a master key, during the refurbishment period, to be able to perform the necessary work in your home. Normal working hours are between 7am and 5pm. Noisy and disturbing work will take place between 8am and 4pm. No work will be carried out in the apartments before 08:00 in the morning. We hope for your understanding in any disturbing stages of the work and trust that you are looking forward to have a brand new kitchenette installed in your home.
While refurbishment work is being done, you will receive a rent reduction of 40 % of your basic rent per day (excluding broadband, etc.). This rent reduction will be awarded retroactively, which means it will appear on the rent invoice issued after the refurbishment work has been completed. This compensation is in accordance with the new agreement with the Stockholm Student Tenants Association (SSF).
You will have a brand new kitchenette!
You will have a new floor in the kitchenette area, painted walls and ceiling, new worktops, new draining board and sink, and new refrigerator with a freezer compartment, new worktop fittings, induction cooker and a microwave oven instead of an oven. A drawing of the new kitchenettes will be put up in the corridor.
The refurbishment is a necessary measure that we as the property owner are obliged to implement in order to maintain our properties. A kitchenette refurbishment counts as an improvement in the standard of your home, which means that we must also increase the rent.
Once the refurbishment work is complete, you will pay your old rent for three months. Thereafter it will be increased by SEK 375 per month. This rent increase has been negotiated in an agreement with the Stockholm Student Tenants Association (SSF).
