Things to keep in mind before your move-out inspection
Once you have terminated your tenancy agreement, your caretaker will let you know the date of your move-out inspection.
During the inspection, we assess whether the wear and tear in your home is normal based on how long you have lived there. If there is damage that is not considered normal wear and tear or other alterations, such as unusual colour choices, you may be liable for the cost of repairing or restoring the home.
You do not need to attend the move-out inspection. If you are not at home, your caretaker will enter using a spare key. If you would like to attend but cannot make the scheduled date, contact your caretaker to arrange a new date.
Your home does not need to be cleaned or emptied of furniture at the time of the inspection, but keep in mind that:
- the walls should be kept free of furniture as much as possible
- any equipment you have removed, such as doors or hat racks, must be in the home at the time of the inspection
Show the home to the next tenant
Once you have terminated your tenancy agreement, the next tenant may contact you to arrange a viewing of the home. We provide your contact details to the person who has received a housing offer. According to your tenancy agreement, you are required to show the home. You and the next tenant agree on a suitable time.
Register at your new address
When you move, you need to report a change of address to the Swedish Tax Agency so that you are registered at the correct address. Report your change of address in advance or no later than one week after moving.
The Swedish Tax Agency notifies many authorities and companies of your new address. If you want your other mail to be forwarded, you need to order this from Svensk Adressändring.
Cancel or transfer your subscriptions
Before moving, you need to cancel or transfer the subscriptions and agreements connected to your home, such as your electricity agreement if you have your own, home insurance, newspaper subscriptions and similar services.
Restore your home to its original condition
When you move out, your home must be restored to its original condition. If you have installed a mirror wall or similar, for example, wall plugs must be removed, the holes filled and, if necessary, painted over.
Contact your caretaker if you need advice on how to restore your home before moving out.
Empty and clean your home and storage room
When you leave your home, it must be thoroughly cleaned and in good condition. If you have a storage room, it must also be emptied and cleaned.
If you live in a student room, you must also empty and clean your own shelf or equivalent space in the food cupboard, fridge and freezer. Make sure you take all your belongings with you when you move.
If you want to book a move-out cleaning service, you can read more about our offer here.
Please note! If the home is not properly cleaned and emptied, you will be charged for:
- SEK 1,500 for emergency cleaning
- cleaning charged by the hour
- SEK 524 for administration of the emergency cleaning
The administration fee covers the time spent handling and coordinating the emergency cleaning.

Return your keys no later than 12:00
All keys belonging to the home must be returned to your caretaker’s office no later than 12:00 the day after your tenancy agreement ends. If your tenancy agreement ends on a weekend or public holiday, return the keys on the next weekday.
If you move out earlier, please return the keys as soon as possible, as this helps us with our work.
You can leave your keys in the key box at your caretaker’s office.
Please note! If you do not return all your keys on time, we will need to change the lock and you will be charged for the cost.
If you have borrowed keys from your local tenants’ association, return them directly to the association’s representative.
