Fire safety

For your safety and the safety of others, it is important that you help prevent fires and keep escape routes clear.

As a tenant, you must:

• keep basement corridors, entrances and other escape routes clear of bicycles, furniture, prams and other items
• keep doors to attics, basements and storage areas closed
• test the smoke alarm in your home once a month and after you have been away for an extended period

In the event of a fire or other emergency, call 112.

Checking and maintaining your smoke alarm

Test the smoke alarm by pressing the test button. This checks that the smoke alarm is working properly, not just the battery.

• If the smoke alarm does not make a sound when you press the test button, the battery may need to be replaced. Submit a fault report on My Pages.
• When the battery needs to be replaced, the smoke alarm will emit a short signal approximately once a minute.
• Clean the smoke alarm once a year or if it goes off without an apparent reason. Gently vacuum it using a soft brush and wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth.

How we work with fire safety

At Stockholms studentbostäder, we work continuously to ensure fire safety in our properties. Every three months, we inspect smoke alarms and fire alarm systems in communal areas, fire doors, escape routes, emergency exit signs, fire extinguishers, emergency vehicle access routes and fire hydrants.

In addition to these checks, we inspect smoke vents once a year. We also carry out regular inspections and monitor fire safety in our properties.

As a tenant, you are responsible for regularly testing the smoke alarm in your own home, while we are responsible for fire safety inspections in communal areas.
