Do you need a break in your studies?

Then you can apply for a free term. You can be granted a free term once during your total living period with us. During a free term, you do not have neither the academic or Student Union obligations for one semester.

1. Make sure you meet the criteria to apply for free time below.
2. Apply for a free term no later than February 15 for the spring semester and September 15 for the autumn semester.
3. Fill out the application form for free term.
4. Attach a certificate from Ladok, proving that you met the study requirement the semester before your free term. If you do not receive credits reported to Ladok, you will need to send a certificate from your university which confirms that you have met the study requirement. All certificates must use the university’s official letterhead and be signed by your school administration.
5. Send an e-mail to Customer service: information@sssb.se
6. Your free time is granted when you have received a confirmation message to My pages and your registered e-mail.

Criteria to be able to apply:

  • Have had your current tenancy agreement with us for at least six months, at the time of the application.
  • You need to be registered at your student address and have been for the last three months.
  • You need to be able to present at least 15 credits or equivalent from the semester before your free term.
  • You have the intention to continue to study after your free term.
  • If you are applying for a free term for the autumn semester, the tenancy review that starts in the spring needs to be approved.
  • If you are applying for a free term for the spring semester, the tenancy review that starts in the autumn needs to be approved.

What happens after your free term?

After your free term, you need to prove that you have resumed your studies in Stockholm and be a Student Union member again. You will have to show this during the tenancy review.
