How to sublet your home

Checklist

  • You meet the criteria for subletting.
  • You have a valid reason for your application.
  • You attach all requested on the application form.

As our tenant you have the right to apply to sublet your accommodation to another student for a limited time. Before submitting your application, it is important that you ensure that you meet the criteria that we have for subletting and that you have a valid reason for your application.

Criteria for subletting

  • You have lived in your home for at least six months before you apply.
  • You are registered on your student address and has been for the last three months.
  • You have an active Student Union membership on My pages.
  • You are registered on your student address and has been for the last three months.
  • You intend to sublet for at least four weeks and a maximum of 12 consecutive months. Try to live with partner can be subletted for a maximum of six months.
  • You have no rent debt with Stockholms studentbostäder.
  • Your subletting tenant studies/intend to study at least 15 credits or equivalent per semester at a SSCO-affiliated school.
  • Your subletting tenant has a registered Student Union membership on My pages (at the start of the semester we accept letters of acceptance).

Valid reasons for subletting and certificates that’s needed:

Exchange studies

  • A transcript of your study results with at least 15 credits or equivalent completed the semester before your application period.
  • A certificate of registration for the current semester.
  • A certificate from your school in Stockholm insuring that exchange studies will be transferred to your education. The certificate needs to specify your name, date of birth, school, which time period it refers to, and also how much of your education you have left when you come back. The certificate must be signed by your study supervisor or other authorized person at your institution. It should also be stamped and written on the school’s paper. See template.
  • Your subtenants’ certificate of registration with at least 15 credits or equivalent for the semester your subletting concerns.
  • A power of attorney. Your power of attorney should be given to a person you trust, for example a family member. This person will represent you if something happens in your home when you are abroad.

Free term

  • Have an approved free term during the subletting period from SSSB.
  • Your subtenants’ certificate of registration with at least 15 credits or equivalent for the semester your subletting concerns.

Try to live with partner

  • A transcript of your study results with at least 15 credits or equivalent completed the semester before your application period.
  • A certificate of registration for the current semester.
  • Your subtenants’ certificate of registration with at least 15 credits or equivalent for the semester your subletting concerns.

Granted exemption from the Housing Committee

  • Decision on granted exemption from the Housing Committee.
  • Your subtenants’ certificate of registration with at least 15 credits or equivalent for the semester your subletting concerns.

Subletting during the summer period

If you live in a one-room apartment, collective housing with 12-month rent or 2-4 rooms apartment it’s possible to sublet your accommodation from June 1 to August 31. Student rooms that are rent free june & july cannot be subletted during the summer period. Below you can see all criteras that’s required.

  • You need to have lived in your accommodation for at least six months.
  • You are registered on your student address and has been for the last three months.
  • You have an active Student Union membership on My pages.
  • The tenancy review carried out during the spring needs to be approved before you submit your application.
  • You intend to sublet for at least four weeks.
  • You have no rent debt with Stockholms studentbostäder.
  • Your subletting tenant is an active student.
  • You cannot sublet your home during the summer if you have a free term during the spring semester.
