Study Review – Tenancy Review

To ensure that our tenants meet the housing requirements, we carry out a study requirements check, which we call a tenancy review. The tenancy review is conducted once per semester: during autumn and during spring.

In addition to the regular tenancy reviews, we also carry out random checks. You must therefore be able to demonstrate that you meet our housing requirements throughout your tenancy with us, regardless of when you moved in.

What we check

During the tenancy review, we check that you:

  • are a member of a Student Union affiliated with SSCO
  • have completed at least 15 ECTS credits, or equivalent, during the previous semester at a higher education institution affiliated with SSCO
  • are registered for at least 15 ECTS credits, or equivalent, during the current semester.

We also accept FUP (preparatory education credits) from supplementary courses at upper secondary school level.

Study results counted towards the spring semester must be reported between 16 February and 15 September.

Study results counted towards the autumn semester must be reported between 16 September and 15 February.

How the tenancy review works

When the tenancy review begins, you will receive information by email. On My Pages, you can view your current status and see whether you need to take any action.

We retrieve information from Ladok to check whether at least 15 ECTS credits have been reported. If fewer than 15 ECTS credits are registered, you will need to verify your studies by submitting supporting documents.

On My Pages, you can see what you need to do if your tenancy review is not approved automatically.

Approved tenancy review

If your status is Approved, you meet the requirements for the tenancy review and do not need to do anything further.

Tenancy review not approved

If your tenancy review has not been approved, you need to submit additional documentation according to the information on My Pages.

If you meet the study requirements but your study results could not be verified automatically, you need to download a PDF from Ladok, or equivalent documentation from your higher education institution, and upload it to My Pages.

If the required number of credits or reporting dates are not shown in the document, you need to submit a certificate from your higher education institution confirming that you meet the study requirements. The certificate must be issued on the institution’s official letterhead and signed by an authorised representative.

If you are a PhD student, you can use our certificate template for PhD students. You must be an active PhD student. Pre-doctoral and postdoctoral studies are not accepted.

If you are completing a master’s thesis over two semesters, you can use our certificate template.

If your Student Union membership is not registered with us, you need to contact your Student Union.

What happens after the tenancy review period?

When the tenancy review period has ended, we close the option to upload certificates on My Pages. Tenants whose tenancy review has not been approved will then receive a notice of termination.

If your tenancy review is not approved during autumn, you must move out no later than 31 January.

If your tenancy review is not approved during spring, you must move out no later than 31 August.

If a random tenancy review is not approved, we will send a notice of termination at least three months before the move-out date.

If your tenancy agreement is terminated, you will be blocked from registering interest in new housing until six months after the end date of your tenancy agreement.

Are you currently on a study break?

If you have an approved study break, you will receive information by email and on My Pages about what applies to you.

Exemptions

You can apply for an exemption from the study requirements and the Student Union membership requirement if, for example, you are on parental leave or have medical or social reasons.
