A new chapter in Gamla stan

Soon, you’ll be able to apply for student housing at Lucidor, right in the heart of Gamla stan. 

Following an extensive renovation, we’re getting the building ready for a new generation of students. The work has been carried out with great respect for the building’s history and character, giving more students the opportunity to live in one of Stockholm’s most unique settings.

Where history lives on 

Generations of students have lived at Lucidor since the late 1960s. After many years, the building was in need of maintenance and renovation. The work has therefore been about more than simply updating the homes – preserving the building’s character has been just as important. 

Throughout the renovation, we have taken the building’s history into consideration by choosing materials that reflect its period and preserving details and features that belong to its original character. The result is updated student housing where the building’s historic atmosphere remains. 

Once the work is complete, a new generation of students will have the opportunity to call Lucidor home. 

Imagine calling Gamla stan home 

Gamla stan has been home to Stockholmers for centuries. People have lived, worked and built their lives here since Stockholm first began to take shape in the Middle Ages. 

Lucidor is part of that history – and part of SSSB’s history too. Students have lived here before, and after the renovation, the building will continue to be a place for student life among cobbled streets, narrow alleyways and historic façades. 

Living at Lucidor means making your everyday life part of one of Stockholm’s most vibrant and historic neighbourhoods – while becoming part of the next chapter in the building’s story. 

Soon, you could live here 

Once the renovation is complete, the student homes at Lucidor will become available through Stiftelsen Stockholms studentbostäder. 

With Gamla stan metro station just a short walk away, it’s easy to get to many of Stockholm’s universities and colleges. The red line takes you directly to both KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University, while the Stockholm School of Economics, the Swedish Defence University and several other higher education institutions are also within easy reach. Here, you’ll live in the heart of Stockholm, with campus, the city and the rest of Stockholm all close at hand.
